Please allow me to introduce myself. I'm originally from southwest Georgia. I was raised by a single mom. We lived in poverty. I served honorably in the United States Air Force for seven years and nine months, securing nuclear weapons and providing air traffic control services to our military aviators. I graduated with honors from both TCC and UTA. I hold a degree in accounting and have successfully passed the CPA exam. I retired October 2018 with over 30 years of air traffic control services to passengers and aircrew flying in and out of DFW. I'm a volunteer deputy voter registrar and have registered over 2,000 citizens to participate in the election process.
While we may differ on ideology, policies and priorities, I think we can all agree on creating a better Arlington. Years ago, I took an oath to protect and defend our constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. That same oath continued to be honored in my service and career as an air traffic controller. I continue to honor that oath today as an American and Arlington citizen, improving our quality of life, donating to our local schools and charities, creating a community service day with our local high school, picking up trash in our neighborhoods, assisting citizens with acts of kindness and coordinating a blood drive. Arlington, TX, July 4, 2020 -- Councilman Marvin Sutton announced his candidacy for the Office of Arlington (TX) Mayor. Arlington is one of the fastest growing city in southeast Tarrant County. As a council member, Marvin believe it is an honor to currently serve, advocate, and represent the interest and values of Arlington citizens. Being a member of city council requires him to be actively engaged in meeting the needs of the communities and businesses. Vibrant neighborhoods, sound infrastructure, environmental-friendly policies and a striving economy are key elements that determine Arlington’s long-term success. Councilman Sutton's primary motivation is to serve the interest of Arlington's citizens. Therefore, he does not hold an ownership interest or have an association with any businesses that would benefit from city contracts. Marvin is accountable, open and transparent and believes these traits should mirror city council.

Prior to serving on the city council, Marvin served our great country honorably for 7 years and 9 months in the United States Air Force and 30 years as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration, ensuring the safety of the flying public and protecting our national airspace system.

He's ready and prepared to continue serving our city by addressing public safety, transportation, economic development and environmental concerns at city hall. As a 29-year resident, He has worked with local schools, crime watch groups, nonprofit organizations, business and communities to improve the quality of life for our citizens.
